Kick Out the Clowns: A Watercolor Protest Poster Workshop
Friday, June 6th or Saturday, June 7th at 5pm at Poppy & Finch Studio, nestled in the back of Plural’s Outdoor Corridor (through the metal gate).
Sliding scale: $25-50 (The sliding scale price option is designed to create accessibility to this workshop for everyone regardless of their current budget while covering the cost of all included materials).
Come make a protest poster worth hanging up after the march and find your voice through the expressive medium of watercolor.
This workshop aims to cultivate community and provide a space to rally together to ensure our voices are heard. During this workshop, guest watercolor artist, Ashley Fenner, will lead the group to design and execute impactful protest posters using wet on wet and wet on dry watercolor techniques. Also, to introduce how to use masking fluid as a tool for creating high contrast text.
Through this workshop you will gain confidence with the brush and learn how to capture the rage, hope, and empathy that unites us during this time of political turbulence.
Make your voice heard and inspire others with a protest poster that harnesses the depth of emotion that drives us to speak out for our shared future. The posters you make in this workshop are intended to be used at your discretion, whether that will be to frame on your wall, stake in your lawn, or raised during the June 14th Portland Kicks Out the Clowns Protest organized by the Women's March: https://action.womensmarch.com/calendars/kick-out-the-clowns
No experience is necessary to participate and all skill levels and ages are welcome to join.
Space is limited to 10 people per session. No refund 5 days before the workshop date.
P.S.: Poppy & Finch studio is a community space where collaborations are welcomed! Ashley walked into my shop a couple of weeks ago with her friends, we shared similar values and walked away with this workshop as a result! This is my vision and mission for my space, lifting each other and empowering young generations! Thank you Ashley for being open to be part of this community and sharing your talent!
